WordTube Video Wordpress Theme
WordTube Video Wordpress Theme Installation:
- Firstly, download the theme file from this page. If you downloaded it from another source, delete it and download it from here.
- Upload the wordtube folder into the /wp-content/themes/ directory.
- Upload the folders in plugins folder into the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
- Active the WordTube theme and the 4 plugins from your Wordpress Admin panel.
Would you like to add videos from Youtube automaticly?
WordTube Options:
- Enter the WordTube Theme Options panel under Appereance in your Wordpress Admin Panel
- Fill in the parts and Save Changes.
- Enter Reading under Settings, write 16 in Blog pages show at most part. Save changes.
Adsense Options:
- There is an /adsense folder in theme folder. Open it. You will see 4 php files.
- You can open these php files in notepad or notepad++.
- Delete the lines in these php files and add your Adsense codes. Then save the php files.
- adsense468-15.php is the top menu ad. Delete the line it and add your 468*15 menu ad code. Use #0033cc for links while you are creating your adsense code.
- adsense468-60.php is the 468*60 ad on homepage and under video in single pages. Use #0033cc for links while you are creating your adsense code.
- adsense300-250-main.php is the 300*250 ad on homepage's sidebar. Use #ffffe5 for background, #f5e082 for borders, #0033cc for links while you are creating your adsense code.
- adsense300-250-page.php is the 300*250 ad on single page's sidebar. Use #eeeeee for background, #cccccc for borders, #0033cc for links while you are creating your adsense code.
Plugins Options:
- After activating the plugins, enter Sociable under Settings. Choose 30 of the social websites. All the settings should be inactive in Position part. Save changes.
- Enter Ratings Options under Ratings on left menu, Show Loading Image With Text must be No. Save changes.
- Ratings Templates should be like these:
Ratings Vote Text: %RATINGS_IMAGES_VOTE%
Ratings Voted Text: %RATINGS_IMAGES%
Ratings No Permission Text: %RATINGS_IMAGES%
Ratings None: %RATINGS_IMAGES_VOTE%
- Save Changes.
WordTube Theme Usage:
While you are adding a video:
- Write the title of the video,
- At the bottom, you will see a Custom Fields part. Write thumb in Name part and write the thumbnail url of the video in Value part. For example: http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/qnNOzngbfNg/default.jpg. Click the Add Custom Field button.
- Write embed in Name Part and paste the embed code in Value part. Click the Add Custom Field button.
- Write description in Name Part and write the description of the video in Value part. Click the Add Custom Field button.
- Submit your tags on right menu, choose the category and Publish your post.
If you have problems, please leave a reply and visit the page in a day.
Licence:
You can not remove the links in footer.

Thanks @dave. You are right, WordPress adds backslashes. I did the modifications. Now you are adding the Adsense codes directly. Please download the theme package again and replace it with your old theme files. Then read the Adsense Options information from this page. You do not need to replace the plugins.
I see that you are using the small embed format. You can use 640*505 embed format. I think it will be better. For this, click the customize button on right of the embed code on youtube.com and choose 640*505.

I think you are using widgets so you can not see the main page’s sidebar ad. If i were you, i will remove the widgets from the widgets panel on admin panel.
If you want to add calendar, open the sidebar_right.php and add this code: < ?php get_calendar(); ?> (there should not be a space between < and ?). you can check the calendar code from here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_calendar

download this zip file. extract it. there is a header.php file in it. replace your wordtube theme header.php file with this header.php and also upload the logo folder into the theme directory. test it. you will see that there will be basic logo on your blog. now, open the logo folder and replace your logo with the logo.png. your logo format should be in png format.

firstly update your wordpress. if you already did it, download the latest wordpress zip file. find the default theme in wp-content/themes and replace your default theme with this default theme. also, replace the wp-includes/comment-template.php file with the latest comment-template.php file. if it would not be a solution, find the comments.php in default theme and upload it into the wordtube theme directory.

Love the theme, just what I am looking for. But, I don’t want the extraneous links at the bottom of the page, i.e., linking to ilovelebanon… that just does not fit with the theme of my site. Can I pay you for the right to remove the links?

i tried to delete theme wordtube and re upload it but now error
Unpacking the package.
Installing the theme.
Destination folder already exists. /home/content/50/5467450/html/wp-content/themes/wordtube-video-theme/
Theme Install Failed.
That means there is already a /wordtube-video-theme directory. Use a FTP program and delete that category. Upload the theme again.
Hmmm, I cannot get the main page to just put ‘Featured’ videos in the ‘Featured Videos’ section, it puts all the videos in there. In the admin panel, I chose “Featured” as the category to promote, but it ignores that and puts them all in there… I’m not seeing something that is probably obvious!
You should write the category ID not the name of the category. Enter your wordpress admin panel. Click the categories on left. Use your mouse and check the url of the Featured category. At the end of the url, you will see something like ID=5. This is the category ID. In the WordTube panel, write this number(only the number) and save changes.
Thank you, I have been scratching my head on that and it was right there. I have one other issue I am working on and this will be perfect. I cannot get adsense to appear on the right column on main page, though it seems to appear on other pages.

Thanks. There is not a function like this in theme. If you want to, you can use “wordpress youtube video bots”. But i do not recommend them.
my logo is not showing there is no image i done what you wrote

Everything works except the thumbnail images. I troubleshooted by following all the inputs given above. But the best I could get is the grayish image of a “camcorder” in the thumbnail frame.
Any remedy?
I fixed the problem myself, but facing a new one. When I click on the thumbnail, two copies of the same video display one on top of the other. Solution?
Do not add the embed code into the content part, just add it by the Custom Field. As you can see, there is not any problems in other posts of your blog.
It worked. Have another problem though! How to display thumbnails from more than one categories in featured videos section?
Edit: Forget the admin panel. Open the index.php file.
Find the code < ? echo $wt_featured; ?> (there are 2 same codes, no spaces between < and ?). Replace the first code with your category IDs. Then the code will be like this: cat=5,32&showposts=8 (5 and 32 are category IDs).

When Adding Pages how can I change the title for each page? It keeps coming up “Featured Videos”. I can change the title in the first page{IE: About Us) in the page template, But then the next page comes up with the same title.

You are right, sorry. Please download the theme again. Extract it and replace the old page.php with new page.php. Or open the page.php, find “Featured Videos” and change it to < ?php the_title(); ?> ( there should not be a space between < and ? )
The star ratings images plus text below the thumbnails in “featured videos” & “latest videos” sections look cut off and mutilated. How to correct that and make the spaces between thumbnail rows look clean like on your demo page?

first problem: this is because of the Ratings plugin options. please check them or delete the plugin and upload it again.
second problem: your titles are very long. open the style.css and find the code .videopart {. there is height code there like height:170px;. make it 180 or 190 and save it.

I have a couple questions regarding this theme. First of all, can you only add youtube videos? Second of all, can you play flv files? I mean, can I use my own custom player, like the jw player instead of the youtube player? Or does this theme only work for youtube videos? Any help is appreciated.
1- You can add every embed code, not only youtube videos.
2- If you use a flv player, yes you can play your flv files. If you use a plugin, do not use the custom field part for embed. Add the file in normal content part.

hi, i have set it up but featured videos and latest videos are just the same
are they gonna be same all the time. featured videos are in row as i add new videos. they are not random or queued by their ratings or views 
In the WordTube Theme Options page under Appearance, there is a “Featured Videos:” part. Write the category ID of your featured category, and save it. For the category ID, enter Categories, check the url of your category. At the end of the url, you will see something like cat=7. This is category ID. Write this number in Category ID part in WordTube Theme Options and save it.
In single pages, Random Videos are random videos:) Just add more videos and refresh one of your single page.

Every theme uses different custom fields. Do not choose video_code while your are adding the Custom Field. You should see Enter New link under the Name field. Click it and write embed in Name Field. Paste the embed code in Value field. Click the Add Custom Field button.

How to build a french version for instance?
I think there are some special characters in French. So,
- Download notepad++ from http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/download.php
- Open a theme file(for example index.php). Cut the codes, select the Format in top menu, choose Encode in UTF-8 without BOM. Paste the codes.
- Replace the English words with French words. For example find Featured Videos and replace it.
- Save the file.
- Do the same for all php files.
If you can do it for us, please send me the French theme file. Then i can add it in the post.
Woderful theme, tried in one of my WP blog and works fine, but I also have some Blogger blogs can you get same type of theme for Blogger please? If this theme gets on blogger I am sure nothing will be better than this for video bloggers!

- Find .sitename. There is width:500px; there. Make it 300px.
- Find .searchpart. There is width:406px; there. Make it 606px.
- Find .search. There is width:406px; there. Make it 606px.

Blog Setup was fine, but do not understand this part “Appearance” in the “Featured Videos” (Category ID) – What should I put in this field? Give me an example.

For example, if you want to show the latest videos from Sports category of your blog in Featured Videos part on homepage, enter Categories in wordpress admin panel. Check the url of the Sports category(put your mouse on the category name and check the url). At the end of the url, you will see the category ID of the Sports category(it is a number). Enter this ID in Featured Videos field and save the WordTube theme options.
Also, your title’s are long. So, open the style.css file in theme folder. Find .videopart {. There is height:170px;. Make it 180px and save the file.
And, read the “Ratings Templates should be like these” part in theme installation information.

By adding 180, we changed the height of the video parts on homepage. Check this image: http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/5360/sssym.jpg . As you can see, we can not see some letters of rating. Yesterday, i could not see the rating images. It’s better now. If you do not want to change the Rating Plugin Theme Options, make it 190px. I think it will be best.

I think the problem is because of these settings. I see that in your blog’s source, show_loading: “1″. But in demo it is 0.

a) if you do not want to add ads, open the adsense folder in theme directory. there are 4 php files there. open them with notepad++ or notepad and delete all the codes in them. and save the files. (you can not remove only the Ads By Google link. because it’s a part of the adsense ad code.)
b) yes you can add other ad codes. as same, open the adsense folder, open the 4 php files and add your ad codes. name of the php files will help you to choose the ad formats. for example, adsense468-15.php means, ad format is 468px width and 15px height(this is the top menu ad).

I’m about to finish the smaller customisations I’m doing in order to suite my needs ( & I hope shortly I’ll showcase it here
) But while I was trying to test a normal blog post (without any videos, but with an image inside the post), the text which was suppose to be rapped around the image (right & down the image) as I have selected my image to float towards the left of the post, is being pushed down the image 
So, is that the theme styling? or do you think something else? If it is the default theme styling where in you have designed, not to rap anything around the image in a post, then how can I edit the stylesheet (or whatever is needed) in order to get the normality? Because for videos its absolutely fine, but what if we have any of the posts containing small images with some text or say description or summary to be wrapped around that image, so that we can utilise the full width of the page?

Nope, Its not working
I have followed the steps mentioned in that page, but still I’m not able to get the text wrapped around the image. The whole text is being dropped below the image again! I guess there is something that’s stopping the text being wrapped around the image in your theme? Can you plz test it & see what’s really wrong?

You would like to do it like that i think. If yes, open style.css and add these codes at the bottom(also while adding the image in post, you should choose left, right or center from the “Alignment” in “Add an Image Panel”):

Also, do not write anything in the “Caption” field on image panel. If you write something, image will have a separate line.

I have a question about embedding videos into Facebook. I can share a video on Facebook. It shows a thumbnail image on the left and an explanation on the right of this image. When I click on the image, a new tab appears and go to the video which the share link belonged to. It is not the case for Youtube videos. When I share them, they open in the Facebook page. I don’t know if it is related with the theme or not, but I will be happy if you help me.

I will try to explain my problem. We can embed videos from different sources and shows in WordPress blog by WordTube. Therefore, we do not have to store videos on our servers. Since there is no video file on the server, Facebook could not take it as it is, I think.
Now, I would like to ask if we could upload our videos files to ftp and make the WordTube show it in the same way.

Do not add the “Custom Field” with the name “embed”. Instead of it, install that plugin and use the content part of the post.

categories seems to go on the second line and overlay that header line. I am not good on css, can you tell me what I have to edit to move the menu a little to the left so I can have more space and the categoryes in the same line?

you need to add the images from the Custom Field.
- Write thumb in Name part and write the thumbnail image url of the video in Value part. URL should start with http and with jpg, gif or png. Click the Add Custom Field button.

I think you upgrade the pagenavi plugin. So the style of that plugin changed.
Please download the theme again. Find the pagenavi-css.css in plugins/wp-pagenavi. And upload that css file in the same folder in your ftp account.

Did you delete the default wordpress theme? Because Wordtube uses the default theme’s comments.php. If you deleted that theme, it would be a problem.
Please download the wordpress file(http://wordpress.org/download/), open /wp-content/themes/default, and find the comments.php. Upload that file into the WordTube theme folder(wp-content/themes/wordtube).

Lastly (I hope!) the wordTube player doesn’t seem to change size on the post pages

You are using the wordtube plugin. This is not my plugin so i do not have enough informations about it. But i searched and found this page: http://alexrabe.de/2008/08/08/wordtube-20/. There are some questions about sizes. Also i think @qowers told the solution: http://alexrabe.de/2008/08/08/wordtube-20/#comment-17111
If you add video embed codes(from youtube, etc), just changed the width and height in embed code. 605 is best for width.

I have developed a new bug which is with ratings – they’ve stopped working… I did the changes you mention above in the ratings settings, but for some reason they don’t seem to work when you click on them.. Any ideas?

You have dublicate videos on homepage. For example, “Omaha at the WSOP 2008 – Part 1/6″ is in the featured part and also at the bottom.
The rating plugin does not work for dublicate posts on same page.
It can help: Enter the Wordtube Control Panel, in “Category ID:” field, write both of the “Omaha Poker Videos” and “WSOP (Omaha)” category IDs. Use a comma between IDs. For example: 5,7
Then the videos in these 2 categories will not be live at the “Latest Omaha Videos” part. They will be only in “Featured Videos” part. You will not have dublicate videos on homepage and the rating plugin will work.

If you do not want to limit, enter the “Ratings Options” page and select “Do not Log” for “Ratings Logging Method:”.

They are working for me.
If you can not play the videos, there can be 3 reasons:
1- You country may blocked youtube,
2- Youtube may blocked your country,
If there is a problem like these, you can use google public dns: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
3- Youtube changed some script functions last week. I do not think they effect the embed codes but i am not sure.

I do not know which plugin or bot you are using so i can not help. Open index.php and search for thumb. That line is the thumbnail function code. You can edit it.

Hi – great theme. Have just installed it but I’m having a slight problem in that the background and borders to the light yellow coloured widgets are now showing.
The background/border for the grey side boxes and adsense units are working. For the Categories box and other widgets, the title of the box has a blank white background and the background for the category names is yellow however no border visible.

Hi – thanks for that, it appears I had the ‘categories’ box as a widget when as you rightly say there should be no widgets set.
Another small problem I have encountered is the top search box text padding. In Internet Explorer 8 the ‘What are you looking for?’ text appears in perfection position, however in other browers such as Firefox is appears above 5px down from where it should be. This is the same on your demo store so it is not just my site.
Lastly, how much do you charge to create a new template? I realise this will just be approximate as it will vary depending on the specification, however I would want a similar layout to this one and same functions, just a new design with no links in the footer etc.

Yes there a small problem in search part. I created this theme before firefox 3.6. So it has this problem. I did not fix it because if i fixed, there would be problems in other browsers. I thought it was a problem about firefox. If you want to fix it:
- open style.css
- find .searchform_top_text
- there is padding:4px 8px 0 8px;
- make it padding:1px 8px 0 8px;
it will fix the problem i think.
I will create a new video theme so i do not want to edit this one.
I can create a new and better theme for $150. It will be real widget ready and will not has any problems in firefox, ie 6-7-8, chrome and opera. You will have all the theme rights and i will not resell or share it.

thumb is the thumbnail url. you can use every image url. for example you can upload the image and add it’s url or copy the image url from youtube. that means, you do not need to host the thumb images.
you need to use Custom Fields function to add the thumb url. write thumb in Name field, and write the thumb url in Value part and add the Custom Field. you should use http:// in urls.
I got the thumb url. But I have another question. When I click on thumbnail, it takes to me to another page where “share and enjoy” is displayed twice. How do I get rid of one of them. Thanks.
firstly, download wordpress file: http://wordpress.org/download/
open the default theme in wp-content/themes and copy comments.php and upload it into the wordtube theme folder. as you see, there is en error in video pages at the bottom. you can fix it by this way.
and your question:
- enter the admin panel,
- enter Settings/Sociable
- in Position: settings, do not select any of them. i think “Individual blog posts” checked in your settings. clear it and save the settings.

I do not see any problems in your website. There are navigations in categories. On homepage, you can not use the navigation because theme uses featured categories on homepage.

There are 2 same codes in index.php.
At last part of this code you can see this code:

replace this code with:

Again, there should not be a space between < and ? at the beginning of the code. This will limit the title lenght. 15 is the character limit. You can change it.

- delete everything about wordtube theme in your wp-content/themes. delete everything in wp-content/plugins.
- download the zip file from this page,
- extract it(unzip it) to your computer. do not upload the zip file in your ftp. do not use wordpress admin panel to upload the theme files. just extract the files in your computer.
- when you extract it, you will see a folder called “wordtube-video-theme”. open it. there is a wordtube folder there. upload this folder into wp-content/themes.
- there is also a plugins folder. open it. upload every folder in these folder to wp-content/plugins.
- activate the theme and activate the plugins from wordpress admin panel.
- then, do the things that i told in in post, above.

How to add page navigation at the front (first) page? (So users can move from the first page to other pages without having to click on archives to learn about previous posts)
we can not reach every page by a menu while we are using wordpress. we need to use the archives.
How do I place Text Link Ads in the side bar. If I drag the widget, everything else on side bar is lost. The instructions from TLA is:
- For Sidebar widget, you will need to drag the “Text Link Ads” module into your sidebar from the Themes Widgets Management and click save.
- For Non Sidebar widget, you will need to add to your sidebar.php template or to your code. If you are want home page only ads then add to your sidebar template or code.

check a single post and control the plugin. if you can vote, it means that you need did not set a Featured Category. if you can not vote in single posts, that means there is a problem about the plugin options.

I’m having a problem with the 300×250 and 486×60 ads on the video pages.
It shows ok on the mainpage but when i click a video i don’t get the right sidebar ad or the ad below the video.
I’ve checked and all the ads are in place and i’ve removed all my widgets from the sidebar but still no ads shown.

There is not a problem about your ads in single pages. In most of your pages you do not see ads because Adsense can not find a suitable ad for the page.
For example,
- http://hot-scene.com/2010/06/20/denise-hot-and-wild/ : there is only a public ad on top of the page with the title “Help those most in need”. If Adsense can not find a suitable ad, it shows public ads which are free(you can not earn money from these ads). Because of the same reason, there is not any ads on right or bottom.
- http://hot-scene.com/2010/06/20/sexy-rakhi-sawant-in-hot-scene-buddha-mar-gaya/ : I can see 3 ads in these page. Top, left and bottom. Because Adsense can find suitable ads for this page.
So, you do not need to edit the files, everthing is ok. But, if i were you, i will add more content to pages(you can add descriptions for videos). Then Adsense will find ads for pages.
I have a question here. Does Google shows ads on adult videos / pages? I am not sure what are Adsense TOS.

@Rajesh, you can not use Adsense in pages that includes adult videos. Also, do not use words like s–e–x in titles, descriptions, etc. You may think they are normal videos but Adsense may thinks that they are adult videos. So you must be careful.
For top ad:
- open header.php
- find div id=”main”
- add these below that line:
< div style="text-align:center;display:block;">
YOUR AD CODE
< /div>
Delete the spaces between < and div, < and /div.
I agree that Google will not show ads on adult videos and that is the probable reason why ads are not appearing on few of bondi’s pages.

Okay, for those of you facing the rating issue here is what I have done. And yea, its working after hours of headache.
Solution: download older version of wp-post rating plugin i.e., 1.40 version worked well for me.
And then change this .pratings {
float:left;
width:200px;
to
.pratings {
float:left;
width:300px;
So that even average ratings can be seen. Of course you need to change homepage video height from 170px to say 200px. Everything will work perfectly.

Just a quick question “How to Activate WordPress 3.0 Menu Management”, as wordpress 3.0 offering Menu support but your current theme doesn’t support navigation menu, can we add the following code in Editor>Function,php
so your current theme can give us the navigation menu, is it possible or is there any-alternative-way?

replace the old files with these new ones. then you can use the menus functions. but do not use submenu items.

tubepress plugin uses the content part of wordtube posts. but wordtube theme uses custom field parts. so they can not work together properly.

sorry, because of the Featured Videos part, we can not add navigation(page1-2-3) to Latest Video’s.
Just downloaded theme and installed a new wordpress. I cannot change the header WordTube in the Wordtube theme options in admin. I renamed it to ‘Test’ for the first word and ‘Video’ for the second word. Still no effect when i viewed the homepage. Any idea why this is happening?

featured box also does not seem to work. It shows all categories even if i set the category name to show in the featured box as “featured”.
sorry to bother again, i did not do anything and i noticed that the footer was already gone. maybe this was what caused this
i tested the theme again with wp 3.0, and the title and the featured part is working fine. please download the theme from this page and reinstall it.
i tried downloading and reinstalling again from this site, the template as well the the WP 3.0.1, does this effect the fact that i am running in localhost to test this? im using Wamp. First tested it with 2.8.5 since i had this problem i downloaded the latest WP, though all other features like posting videos and random videos work, only problem was the featured and the title cant be changed, also footer is not found. I did not do anything to the code. just followed all instructions. This is a really great template. really what i have been looking for hope to fix this problem so i could use this. thanks
sorry, i could not understand the problem. i use “xampp light” and it is working fine with all features. please try to install it on a hosting. 3000 people downloaded the theme and you are first person that had this error. i think there is a problem about your local server.

i downloaded the theme from this page. i tried again 2 minutes ago. it is working. you can be sure that there is not a problem about the theme.
I can’t figure out for the life of me how to post a video or add more videos to my feed. When installing I didn’t see the Ratings bar to set the standards listed in the process. I’m a novice. Please help.
you are not using the wordtube theme.
I am trying to change the logo in the header.php file. I downloaded and unzipped the new header.php file. I uploaded the logo folder into the themes directory. The test logo image is still not showing up. Do I need to attach the photo media file? What am I missing here?
please upload the logo folder, not only the logo.png.
it must be like this: wordtube/logo/logo.png
and replace old header.php with with the new one.

as you see, logo.png is not in /logo folder.
open header.php file and find:
/logo/logo.png
delete the first part: /logo
then it should be: /logo.png

You are not using the WordTube theme. Check the style.css and find the help page url of your theme please.
Hi, love the theme but I’m having trouble with the adsense part. Kind of new at this but I think I followed the instructions correctly but nothing seems to happen when I add my adsnse script. Is it possible you can post what the adsense 320×250 main php file should look like with sample adsense script. not sure where im going wrong.

wait 10-15 minutes. if Adsense can find related ads with your site, it will show the ads.

I have only performed one WP install previously, which went fine. I followed your instructions above, but it is indicated in the WP admin that the theme is missing a syle sheet, and the plugins aren’t showing. I’m assuming that I have not done something right, so what might that be?
i think you uploaded the whole file. do it like this:
- download and extract the file.
- upload the wordtube folder to wp-content/themes. wordtube folder is in wordtube-video-theme folder.
- upload the 4 folders in plugins folder to wp-content/plugins. do not upload the whole plugins folder. just the folders in it.

OK. One final question, regarding Adsense. Can we simply add our publisher ID into the files you mentioned, or do we have to include the entire code for that particular banner? If the entire code, then I’m assuming we get that from the Adsense site, right? And where would I add a Google Analytics ID? Thanks. Nice theme!
Are there any related post plugins that show thumbnails correctly that work well with the theme? Ive tried a few but the thumbnails seem not to show up, or show up incorrectly.

if they want to you to tell the custom field for thumbnails, use thumb.

@Ken, you need to add the entire adsense codes. you can get them from adsense site, yes.
if you use google analytics, open header.php and paste your entire analytics code after < body>.
Thanks. Sorry, but one more question – I want to remove the Blogroll and Meta boxes. I found some instructions above, removed the code that was mentioned, uploaded the new roght_sidebar file, but the boxes are still there. Is there anything else I can do to remove these boxes?

while you are copying the embed code from youtube, choose the 640px width version, not the 853px version. you can see that option under embed code in youtube.
