StarGate Wordpress Theme Information

StarGate Movie theme is created for movie websites. It has an IMDB style taxonomy.

There are three ways that you can add the movie parts:

Embed codes in Content Area. Example: click here
Embed codes in Tabbed Area. Example: click here
Use file url in Tabbed Area with custom player(if you host the files in your server). Example: click here

StarGate Theme Installation

Important: Do not use wp-pagenavi plugin with this theme. Theme has a custom navigation function.

Upload the stargate folder to wp-content/themes,
Upload the wp-postviews folder in plugins folder to wp-content/plugins,
Activate the theme and the plugin from Wordpress admin panel,
Create a Featured Category from Categories under Posts menu in Wordpress admin panel(This is for slider),
Go to Stargate Theme Options under Appearance,
Select the Featured Category for slider,
Paste your Adsense or banner codes. You need to paste the whole Adsense code.
Paste your analytics code if you have one.
Save changes.

Now your theme is ready to use.

Important: When your theme is ready, update the wordpress permalinks.

Widgets

Theme is widget ready. So you can add widgets from Widgets under Appearance.

Top Menu

You have to use wordpress 3.x

Go to Menus under Appearance
On right, big part, write a menu title. For example, mytopmenu and click Save Menu on top right of the part,
On left, firstly select the Home link under Pages/View All, then select other pages or categories and click the Add to Menu buttons,
Again, click the Save Menu button on top right,
On top left(Theme Location), select your menu and click the Save button.

Important: Do not use dropdown menus. Your first link must be the "Home" link in menu.

How to Add Movie

Go to Add New under Posts,
Write the title,
Write an information about the movie in content field,
Under Content field, you will see "Movie Information" part
Paste the poster image url. You must start with http:// and image must be a jpg file.
If the movie will be in Featured Category(Slider), paste the image url again(or you can use another, bigger image),
Fill in "Original Name", "Language", "IMBD Rating", "Release Date" fields,
If you have one, paste the trailer embed code. Best width for the embed code is 567. Code: width="567"
You will see "File Urls". If you want to use your own player, fill in the fields. You must write the file urls in fields. For example: http : // video. ak. fbcdn.net/video-ak-sf2p/v10816/18/18/1228406994255_58555.mp4
If you want to use embed codes, do not add anything in "File Urls". Use the "If you want to use embed codes" part. Again, best width for embed codes is 567.
Then go the right sidebar.
Select the category, add tags, add country or countries, add the Director name and add the Casts.
Publish the post.

This post added with "If you want to use embed codes" fields: http://www.wordpressthemesbook.com/demo/stargate/knight-day.html

If you want to have a post like this one: http://www.wordpressthemesbook.com/demo/stargate/frozen.html, do not write anything in "File Urls" or "If you want to use embed codes" parts. Add the embed codes in Content part.

Logo

There is a logo folder in theme folder. You can find a logo.psd in this folder.

Edit it by Photoshop and save it as logo.png. Then replace the logo.png with this new logo.png

Of course, you can use your own logo.png, too.

Thumbnails(posters)

If your posters do not appear on homepage, make the chmod permission of cache folder in theme folder 775 or 777. Some servers use 775, some 777.

Licence

Do not delete or edit the links in footer. Theme is free because of that links.

  thanks. yes, it was a paid theme. i found a sponsor and now it’s free. free version includes some links in footer and as i told in Licence part, theme users can not delete these links.

  pictures must be on your server(do not use third party websites). pictures must be in jpg format. write http:// while you are adding the picture url. and make the chmod permissions of cache folder 775 or 777(some servers need 775, some need 777).

but i have problems…
the images for poster/slide not show up…
i use image from my server (i upload using media on wordpress menu)

i used xampp localhost..and should not be setting the chmod permission, like u told before..

help would be nice

I had the same problem here. images can not appear. I’ve tried to change the cache folder to 777 or 775, the image can log into the cache folder, but still the same.

  i think you found the solution yourself. do these:
  
  - open index.php archive.php, search.php, single.php, sidebar.php and find:
  
  < ***?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/timthumb.php?src=
  
  and
  
  &w=120&zc=1&q=176
  
  then delete them. this code is for timthumb script. if you delete that codes, your theme will not create thumbnails but will use your images with the original sizes.
